The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Finally, the third sequel of the Mummy Series has been released, and is still showing now. Of course, I have already watched the movie, and what could I say? It’s a very funny movie, though I’m not convinced with Maria Bello’s being Evelyn, I still prefer Rachel Weisz. But, should we not begin this question.

Now, about the movie, unlike other Mummy Series, the Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor does not talk about mummies from Egypt, it was about an emperor who once lived as a very powerful leader, who was cursed by a witch, and was brought to life by an ambitious general, who wanted peace and harmony for their beloved country China. But, peace and harmony was not brought because the emperor was still in raged because he was cursed, after he was betrayed by his former general, who has an affair with the witch, which by the way, was the emperor’s “wish” to be his queen.

And as the story goes, O’Conells, Zi Yuan (the witch), Lin (the witch’s daughter and the protector of the emperor’s tomb) came to the rescue to put the emperor back to his tomb.

For me, the movie was a good one, since it didn’t lost its being an adventure-comedy type of a movie.

Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince

Have you heard? I guess you already have (hehe.). The new Harry Potter movie has already released their trailer for their upcoming movie sequel, Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. For those who are Harry Potter fanatics, it’s very exciting news, because it’s over a year since you have waited for another movie to come out. You have probably seen some clips from the making of this movie, but seeing it all in just a glimpse in a trailer eases the thrill and excitement. However, some fans are quite disappointed because the trailer is released very ahead of time of its movie release. Since, the movie will be showing on November 2009, some fans didn’t want to see (yet) the trailer, but for some they don’t mind at all.

For this movie, another actor was introduced and he will play the role of the young Voldemort. The character is played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, who’s a nephew of Lord Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes. The director of the movie said that Hero has the attributes of a young Voldemort, not only do they look alike, but he can play a cruel, evil young Voldemort.

L: Change the World

As expected, a third movie from the Death Note (Japanese movie based on Manga), was released. Though it was so late for me to know that it already came out. When I knew that there's already a third movie, I got so excited and searched through the world wide web, finally I got the information. It was released in Japan last February 2008, and it was entitled: "L: Change the World". The rumors were true, that the third movie would star L. Though the first rumor that it's about L's life is not true, I wasn't disappointed because it's still good. It's a spin off, and it's the story during the remaining 23 days of L's life, after solving the Kira Case. Wherein, he had to face another case, and solve it before his death.

For those who are also interested, the movie can be viewed on www.crunchyroll.com, you need an account to watch it.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

I’ve just watched this movie yesterday. I would never know that there’s such a movie if I haven’t watched Wanted. Because it was a fantasy movie, I was convinced to watch it. It has good effects, may be better with the 3-D version, although some parts are not good, especially when Brendan Frasier and Josh Hutcherson was running away from the dinosaur. This movie is an adaptation to the novel with the same title by Jules Verne. I’ll give thumbs up to the author, very good imagination and creativity. Overall, with a good story and good effects, it’s a must see movie for those fantasy movie lovers, and kids may love it as well.

One thing that I would critic is the trailer: Whatever you see in the trailer is like the 80% of the actual movie, it’s like giving away the movie.

Cast:

Brendan Frasier as Trevor
Josh Hutcherson as Sean
Anita Briem as Hannah

Wanted

Before the showing of this film, I was really interested in it, especially when I saw the trailer. So, when it came out, I really watched it, and as what I have expected, it’s a very good movie, and it’s my favourite now! Besides having Angelina Jolie as one of the cast, the movie has a good story, and very good effects, it’s indeed an action movie. Some action movies are so boring to watch, like you have to watch guns firing all the time, running around, explosions, and the like. But this movie, is quite different, an action movie that’s not boring to watch, even the elders can enjoy watching it.

Since it was released, it has received very good comments. You can go to http://www.youtube.com/, view its trailer and you can see that it has reached 2Million views already, and has received high rates. Please, don’t miss this movie! Love it!

The Ruins

I have just watched the movie “The Ruins” last night. Actually, before I watched the movie, I got no clue on what the story is about, and I never heard that such movie was released (honestly). I was just curious because people who have watched the movie, before me, commented that the book (where it was gotten from) was not as scary as what the movie portrays it. Some also said that it wasn’t a good movie, and the book was much better. Others seem to like it, they say it was scary. Because of those comments, I came to see the movie myself. And what do I have to say? Hmmm, the sound effects were a bit scary (indeed), the story is okay, but it wasn’t really clear, so people who weren’t able to read the book might not understand the story. I’m one of those people who didn’t read the book, and seems to me, that the movie wasn’t really understandable. But, I do understand what the movie is about, but it’s not too detailed like other thriller movies.

The ending was okay, however it was predictable. I’m not a spoiler, so I won’t tell you that part. But the story is about any other thriller movies: a group of friends went to an unknown place because someone invited them to. Then, when they reached the place, things started to happen. There were weird villagers, who were armed. The group of friends were killed.... one by one ... by the plants. That’s it. No more stories. Watch the movie yourself! :D

Iron Man

Here's another superhero movie, from the web-crawler, to the green giant, to the burning skull.. here's the iron man. Yes, the Iron Man movie starring Robert Downey Jr, is coming to theaters. And in some areas, it is now showing. But I haven't watched the movie yet, and I'm not quite interested in superhero movies such as this, like superheroes who build their own stuff, or armors and devices, and save the world from evil and chaos. I am more interested to those superhero who are being made naturally (sorry for Iron Man fans and the like). But this is just an opinion, since it's a new movie, i'll be watching it, and if it's good, then maybe my mind will change, and i'll be liking self-made superheroes. (hehe)

Phantom of the Opera

I've just finished watching the Phantom of the Opera, a 2004 film. The reason I watched this film is that I was wondering if its really Gerard Butler (starred as Spartan King Leonidas in the movie "300") who played Phantom in this movie. Can he sing? Yes! He can! Actually, he's a good singer, and he's got talent. Maybe it's too late to say these stuff since the Phantom of the Opera was way back in 2004, so probably a lot of people already noticed that its Gerard Butler. But again, I'm just sharing my (so late) reaction.

The movie is based on a classical act, and it was filled with music, singing and dancing. Although some scenes were quite annoying (because they sing their dialogues even it's not needed anymore), for me, the whole movie was great and the actors and actresses where really good in singing.

Upcoming Movie Sequels

Being a movie-goer, I have watched a lot of movies, and most of them are sequels. Other sequels are not as good as the first one, however, they're still to watch out for since they provide answers to hanging questions at the end of the first, the second.. and so on sequels. Upcoming movie sequels on this list are ones to watch out for, however, fans may be disappointed since some of them changed the original cast (which is not a good idea). But, just wait and see.. maybe the new cast will be better.. or worst.. who knows.

  1. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2008) - sneak peek
  2. Arthur and the Vengeance of Maltazard (2009)
  3. Scary Movie 5 (2008)
  4. Saw V (2008)
  5. Final Destination 4 (2009)
  6. Fast and the Furious (2009)
  7. Transformers 2 (2009)

30 Days of Night

I just finished watching the movie 30 days of night. I was unable to see this movie on the cinema since I wasn't interested on another "vampire" movie. But I take back my word, since I liked the movie, especially the bloody scenes (I like the effects, not the blood thing.).

Hope that another vampire movie would come out this year, with a very good twist, and a good story. Actually, I'm getting tired of watching vampire movies, since the story is just the same, like: the vampires came to kill people, there's a hero who would kill the vampire, there's a love story, and the end. I am looking for a more different vampire movie, more exciting, more action, more eating and killing (???).

But, to score this movie, I will give it a thumbs up (especially on the effects).
